Toshiba BDX2700 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) for $159.26

Cheap Toshiba BDX2700 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) Discount Review Shop

Overall, this is a pretty good BD player. It sets up easily. The wireless is very convenient since I don't know many people who have an Ethernet connection in their living room. However it does occasionally shut down and must be unplugged from and replugged into the wall. Also, I do not yet own and HDTV (someday, but I got this mostly to stream NetFlix and also to upgrade my old DVD player) and when I initially hooked this up, I got no display. I called Toshiba (before I got ready to send it back) and they explained to me that the first time it is turned on the resolution is set to Auto HDMI, which a standard TV cannot display. I had to manually change it to 480i and it was fine. Then I had problems setting up the screen size. It kept wanting to play everything (DVDs, TV, and NetFlix) in 4:3 (full screen) ratio. It took me a while to figure that out. I tried every setting, then realized that when I changed the setting, I had to reset (unplug) the unit. That was annoying. Another problem is with VuDu. Some movies on VuDu freeze up on this unit. You get half way through and can go no further. And if you rewind, it stops at the exact same spot. This has only happened with one of the about 5 movies I have rented from VuDu. I called VuDu and was told this problem is specific to this unit and that Toshiba needs to update the firmware. Of course, when I contacted Toshiba, they blamed VuDu.

Cheap VIZIO VBR220 Blu-ray Disc Player with Wireless Internet Applications, Black Discount Review Shop

Just brought the Vizio VBR210 home. Set up was a breeze, just plugged it in and away we went. Wireless connection was simple and connected to my router with no problems. Netflix and Pandora took all of about 2 min to set up, this has been great! Only dislike is the controller, its kind of a piece. Buttons are hard to push, and sometimes need 2 "pressings" before it works. Quite annoying. Overall a great entry level player for the price.

Panasonic DMP-BD45 Ultrafast-Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) for $99.95

Cheap Panasonic DMP-BD45 Ultrafast-Booting Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) Discount Review Shop

I don't typically write reviews of electronics, but I got this about a week or so ago and already watched a few movies on it and there were enough things that I liked about it (many that were not already mentioned) that I thought I would in this case. Most importantly, it is lightning fast compared to my previous blu-ray player (my old one seemed to take forever before it was ready to load and play, this one is ready to load in 30 seconds or so, and ready to play just as fast). This is a major plus in my eyes. Second, the on/off button is on the top right, and the open/close button is on the top left of the player (rather than on the front of the player -- this is very handy because you can see and press both very easily... not a huge deal, but I really like it and it makes it noticeably easier to use, so I thought I'd mention it). Third, it is very light and easy to hook up (unfortunately, it does NOT come with the HDMI cable -- but you can get one of those for less than ; and it does come with the standard red/white/yellow wires so you can at least hook it up until your HDMI cable arrives). Finally, blu-ray disks look amazing on it (at least on my HD TV), and it also plays standard DVDs which look at least as good as the would on a non-blu-ray DVD player (so, if you have lots of regular DVDs, you can still watch them without losing any quality). Finally, the remote is easier to use then the one I got with my other blu-ray player (big and easy to find play, search backwards, search forward, stop, and pause buttons... the open/close butto is a bit small, but still pretty easy to find, and the power button is in the upper left as usual making it very easy to find/use). All for a very reasonably low price on Amazon.com (much cheaper than anywhere else I looked, and with free shiping and no sales tax no less!).

I'd also like to note that the fact that there is a slot on the front where you can directly plug in a SD or SDHC memory card is a major plus. You can watch the HD videos you record right off this player (and use the remote to select videos from a menu it creates of all videos on the memory card). Or, you can look at your photos directly on the TV (it even automatically rotates them so they are always upright... and it again creates a menu so you can select, or once you select, you can go through them one by one and look at them on the big screen). Both the videos and the photos looked amazing on my TV (I have a Samsung HD TV set). In sum, this is a great feature that is remarkably easy to use!

Cheap Yamaha BD-S1900BL Blu-ray Disc Player Discount Review Shop

Why Yamaha has stopped building high end video and audio components? I am confused! I own all Yamaha equipment due to its quality and performance. Features, I am not so into the extraneous items- eg, Netflix, Rhapsody, etc. I am looking for a quality machine, and I found it. The performance is great and its firmware can be updated. The new 3D, hey I could care less, who wants to wear uncomfortable glasses and watch TV, not me at least. What does it boil down to? If you want Yamaha quality with NO useless features, this is a Blu-Ray for you.

Very easy to setup with Comcast. With my Verizon Actiontec router it didn't initially work though - I had to disable WEP.
(not sure if I should blame the router or this box)
I've had it for a couple of months and it's been working great.
The lack of buttons on the device (when it's turned off) makes it somewhat kid-proof, which is a nice feature :)

Philips Blu-ray Disc Player, BDP7200/37 for $287.95

Cheap Philips Blu-ray Disc Player, BDP7200/37 Discount Review Shop

I am like another reviewer who feels like I have to defend this product. Almost could not believe it when I saw the average review of only three stars as I write this. Did a lot of homework before buying this and when I saw it on sale for just under 0.00 at a competitor of Amazon.com, I had to pull the trigger. I am very glad I did, because the very minor flaws I have encountered thus far (after three weeks of ownership) seem insignificant to me.
Don't compare a player in this price range to one that has double the retail price. To me that is unfair.
I am a guy who has a decent Dolby Digital 5.1 sound system. I don't care if this does not have the latest Dolby TruHD or DTS HD decoders built in, because I am not going to take the plunge into a new AV Reciever thank you. The 5.1 sounds excellent via the optical input. I have a feeling that Philips knows who they are building these things for.
As for Picture quality, I could not be happier. I have it hooked up via HDMI (with the audio off so I can send that via Optical) to a Panasonic 42" Viera plasma (which accepts 1080P24 signal). Blurays look absolutely stunning if you have a TV that can accept 1080P24, and I have not had any of the freeze issues that some others talk about after viewing approximately a dozen bluray titles so far. DVD's look excellent as well (maybe not as good as Oppo), but MUCH better than my previous Samsung DVD player ever produced. Another selling point to me is the fact that it plays all DVD formats. Not just the minus only, some others in this price range. If you have any family stuff, home movies, etc recorded on Plus format dvds, watch out. You might end up not being able to watch them on your new player.
Lastly, If you look at some "big time" reviewers like CNET for example, you may be wrongly swayed against buying something that is not at the absolute top of their list. That would be a shame. I think they got it wrong when they gave this one an average rating.
I really like mine a lot, and I can't imagine that most people would not feel the same way if they picked one up.

Cheap NEW JVC XVBP1 All Multi Region Code Free DVD BLU RAY Player. Plays all region DVD 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 PAL or NTSC. And Zone A Blu Rays. (Free HDMI Cable) Discount Review Shop

This product is exactly what I was looking for. A Blu-Ray Player that also can play All-region DVD's. The sound and video quality are excellent. I haven't yet tried all the extra available features, I bought this mainly for watching Blu-Ray DVD'S as well as my international DVD's. The lights on front of the unit are bright though. To me, it's well worth it to pay the extra amount for this version of this JVC product plus remember it includes the free HDMI cable which is approximately a .00 value in itself. I got mine from All Region World (Amazon seller). Be careful, other sellers may be advertising this product as an all-region player but are selling the North American version instead, see the other reviews. I am very pleased with my purchase from All Region World. Although mine arrived without the HDMI cable as advertised, All Region World was quick to send me one after I contacted them about it.
If you do not need an all-region player than the slightly lower costing product of the same JVC model is probably going to be ideal for you. I don't understand why JVC didn't market the two different versions with separate model numbers, very strange in this regard.

Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black) for $104.50

Cheap Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black) Discount Review Shop

I'm not a technical person like a lot of the other reviews I read - I'm just a normal person who wanted a blu-ray player that we could afford. We purchased this along with the Panasonic 42" plasma TV model P42C2. The salesman at the store told us these were very easy to link together - a big plus for us since we are not at all electronically inclined.

We love this blu-ray player! The quality is outstanding. We're very pleased with how easy it was to connect the tv to the blu-ray player. It was in our price range, and to us, that was the most important part. When we bought this my husband and I said to each other that we've got to be careful and not buy all of our movies on blu-ray just because we have one now. But the last 4 movies we've bought have all been on blu-ray. We also have an "old-fashioned" dvd/vcr player hooked up to the TV for the kids' movies so they don't mess with the blu-ray and the difference is amazing. I'm a big Twilight fan and was so excited to watch Edward sparkle! It was a totally different experience.

All in all, we are very happy with our purchase. We matched prices with another store and paid 0 for our blu-ray.

Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player

Cheap Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player Discount Review Shop

I bought this product a couple weeks ago. This player is nearly a year old now, but the HD-DVD playback was an important feature to me. When HD-DVD officially called it quits, I picked up an Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on for and lots of HD-DVDs on clearance. I decided it was time to jump over to Blu-Ray, and for simplicity I wanted one player. I compared this against the LG BD200, and this one turned out to be an excellent choice. It has analog audio out, which I wanted so I would not need to update my receiver to take advantage of HD audio, this is something the LG player did not offer. HD-DVD playback has been flawless so far, and SD-DVD upscaling is great. Blu Ray movies look excellent as well, the only problem is firmware updating. This is the only reason I gave the player 4 stars and not 5. Samsung tends to take a couple of months to release firmware after problems, luckily they released an update for this player on Nov. 7 which fixed playback issues. From what I can tell, Sony players do better with the updates, but the PS3 is the only player that seems to have no problems with compatibility. I'm not a huge fan of Sony and definitely did not want a PS3, and I managed to pick this player up on clearance for 0, which I found to be an EXCELLENT deal. If you have an HD-DVD collection and want to switch to Blu without having multiple players in your house, this Samsung is the way to go. If you are just wanting to jump in to HD for the first time, I would suggest some of the great deals with newer Blu Ray players, which will be upgradeable to Profile 2.0
