Customer Reviews
You lost me Samsung - NRJ - Atlanta, GA USA
After owning for 6 months, it now freezes after 15 minutes into a movie - either DVD or blu-ray -- and continues to freeze every few minutes. Never buying another Samsung product.
1st problem in 2yrs... - Constitution 101 -
I've had this player about 2yrs now w/ no problems...UNTIL NOW. It's having a really hard time playing Spartacus. I got a replacement disc that works OK, but it still struggles and I've got to reboot it occasionally. The only other problem I had was it ate my Valkyrie blu-ray, but the replacement works fine. BTW, I've got the latest firmware as of 7/7/10...
Broke in less than a year. few software update - Paul A. Heinemann - Indiana, USA
This broke in less than a year. It gets stuck on "load" every time I turn it on and the picture goes out. It has had problems since day one, small at first, a stutter, a freeze, may need to restart it once a week. Every software update seemed to make things worse. I guess, considering the problems from the updates, I shouldn't be angry that they have released very, very few of them. But Samsung has a horrible rep. for update release. There customer service is awful. Dumb people who make promises that aren't kept, ridiculous shipping charges that can serve no purpose but to recoup repair costs. Thats why I never got it repaired w/in the warranty period of 90 days. PLEASE don't buy a Samsung bluray player. I have a Samsung tv and it's great, but their Bluray players are a train-wreck. Or buy it, whatever, I really don't care, but you will likely regret it.
Don't believe me? Google "samsung bluray problems."
Freezes while playing disks - Gearl Brace - Scotts Valley, CA
Much like the experience of other users I love the streaming Pandora and Netflix, both of which I use quite frequently. These features both work flawlessly and was the main selling point. When it comes to disk playback the system will eventually freeze partway through the disk. Often if I simply wait for a bit, it'll start playing again but the freezes will become more and more frequent. I suspected overheating but the unit has sufficient airflow all around.
I sent it back to Samsung for RMA repair. The hardware was warranted but not the labor so I spent another beyond shipping for them to replace the mainboard. The new mainboard did the same exact thing but I've given up and don't want to fight Samsung support. I'd rather buy another unit from another manufacturer instead of a Samsung since the problems I experienced seem to be fairly universal among Samsung's blu-ray players given the reviews that I've read.
