VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player with VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) for $189.99

Cheap VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player with VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) Discount Review Shop

Very easy to setup with Comcast. With my Verizon Actiontec router it didn't initially work though - I had to disable WEP.
(not sure if I should blame the router or this box)
I've had it for a couple of months and it's been working great.
The lack of buttons on the device (when it's turned off) makes it somewhat kid-proof, which is a nice feature :)

Philips Blu-ray Disc Player, BDP7200/37 for $287.95

Cheap Philips Blu-ray Disc Player, BDP7200/37 Discount Review Shop

I am like another reviewer who feels like I have to defend this product. Almost could not believe it when I saw the average review of only three stars as I write this. Did a lot of homework before buying this and when I saw it on sale for just under 0.00 at a competitor of Amazon.com, I had to pull the trigger. I am very glad I did, because the very minor flaws I have encountered thus far (after three weeks of ownership) seem insignificant to me.
Don't compare a player in this price range to one that has double the retail price. To me that is unfair.
I am a guy who has a decent Dolby Digital 5.1 sound system. I don't care if this does not have the latest Dolby TruHD or DTS HD decoders built in, because I am not going to take the plunge into a new AV Reciever thank you. The 5.1 sounds excellent via the optical input. I have a feeling that Philips knows who they are building these things for.
As for Picture quality, I could not be happier. I have it hooked up via HDMI (with the audio off so I can send that via Optical) to a Panasonic 42" Viera plasma (which accepts 1080P24 signal). Blurays look absolutely stunning if you have a TV that can accept 1080P24, and I have not had any of the freeze issues that some others talk about after viewing approximately a dozen bluray titles so far. DVD's look excellent as well (maybe not as good as Oppo), but MUCH better than my previous Samsung DVD player ever produced. Another selling point to me is the fact that it plays all DVD formats. Not just the minus only, some others in this price range. If you have any family stuff, home movies, etc recorded on Plus format dvds, watch out. You might end up not being able to watch them on your new player.
Lastly, If you look at some "big time" reviewers like CNET for example, you may be wrongly swayed against buying something that is not at the absolute top of their list. That would be a shame. I think they got it wrong when they gave this one an average rating.
I really like mine a lot, and I can't imagine that most people would not feel the same way if they picked one up.

Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black) for $104.50

Cheap Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black) Discount Review Shop

I'm not a technical person like a lot of the other reviews I read - I'm just a normal person who wanted a blu-ray player that we could afford. We purchased this along with the Panasonic 42" plasma TV model P42C2. The salesman at the store told us these were very easy to link together - a big plus for us since we are not at all electronically inclined.

We love this blu-ray player! The quality is outstanding. We're very pleased with how easy it was to connect the tv to the blu-ray player. It was in our price range, and to us, that was the most important part. When we bought this my husband and I said to each other that we've got to be careful and not buy all of our movies on blu-ray just because we have one now. But the last 4 movies we've bought have all been on blu-ray. We also have an "old-fashioned" dvd/vcr player hooked up to the TV for the kids' movies so they don't mess with the blu-ray and the difference is amazing. I'm a big Twilight fan and was so excited to watch Edward sparkle! It was a totally different experience.

All in all, we are very happy with our purchase. We matched prices with another store and paid 0 for our blu-ray.

Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player

Cheap Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player Discount Review Shop

I bought this product a couple weeks ago. This player is nearly a year old now, but the HD-DVD playback was an important feature to me. When HD-DVD officially called it quits, I picked up an Xbox 360 HD-DVD add on for and lots of HD-DVDs on clearance. I decided it was time to jump over to Blu-Ray, and for simplicity I wanted one player. I compared this against the LG BD200, and this one turned out to be an excellent choice. It has analog audio out, which I wanted so I would not need to update my receiver to take advantage of HD audio, this is something the LG player did not offer. HD-DVD playback has been flawless so far, and SD-DVD upscaling is great. Blu Ray movies look excellent as well, the only problem is firmware updating. This is the only reason I gave the player 4 stars and not 5. Samsung tends to take a couple of months to release firmware after problems, luckily they released an update for this player on Nov. 7 which fixed playback issues. From what I can tell, Sony players do better with the updates, but the PS3 is the only player that seems to have no problems with compatibility. I'm not a huge fan of Sony and definitely did not want a PS3, and I managed to pick this player up on clearance for 0, which I found to be an EXCELLENT deal. If you have an HD-DVD collection and want to switch to Blu without having multiple players in your house, this Samsung is the way to go. If you are just wanting to jump in to HD for the first time, I would suggest some of the great deals with newer Blu Ray players, which will be upgradeable to Profile 2.0

This product (so far) is exactly as advertised. My wife was able to play a DVD from overseas without any issues. This is my first blue-ray player and it hooked up to my Panasonic Viera Plasma in no time at all. Thanks Amazon for saving me 0! It was that much cheaper than going to a popular all-region DVD player seller!

Toshiba BDX2000 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player for $99.95

Cheap Toshiba BDX2000 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player Discount Review Shop

We bought this player a month or so ago, understanding very well that it has no wireless receiver to access Netflix, Pandora, etc. and firmware updates and nor does it have a USB port. That said, it is a pretty solid entry-level player that we picked up for <0 at Conn's. However, it does come with a caveat. If you don't already have a SD card in the slot provided, then IT WILL NOT LOAD YOUR BLU-RAY DISK PROPERLY. I was very eager to play my first ever BD movie and without a SD card, all I could see was a small rectangle in the middle of our TV which showed the video, with the audio playing in the background. I called Toshiba and they said that the player lacked sufficient internal memory and that a SD card with 8GB-32GB capacity should fix the issue. I must say that considering that this model was Toshiba's first foray into the Blu-Ray realm, they could have included a SD card or at least asked their retailers to convey this very important requirement to their buyers. I have not gotten around to reading the manual, but I'm going to assume they did not mention it there either. Anyway, we ended up spending on a SanDisk 8GB Ultra SDHC card, and once we loaded the card, it worked perfectly. Maybe it is the quality of the SD card or maybe it is the player itself, but the loading time for a BD iss less than 30 seconds. Impressive! The up-conversion of DVD's to 1080p via HDMI is fantastic, and the BD performance was even better with crisper images and sharper sound without lags, freezing, or skipping of any kind, that I've heard being reported about other BD players. I still haven't figured out how the Regza link works (I have a Toshiba Regza 46SV670U) and am a little skeptical about reviews that mention the player dying out shortly after the warranty period. However, for now, things are as simple as they get with this BD player and we love it!

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) for $110.00

Cheap Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) Discount Review Shop

Unlike many others out there, I have not experienced any of the freezing problems. I purchased this about 6 months ago and have never updated the firmware because right out of the box, the player has worked beautifully. I got this to supplement my PS3 as a BluRay player when I quickly realized that my wife would want to watch movies as often as I'd want to play a game. Since I had already spent a chunk of money on the PS3 I didn't want to spend another small fortune on a stand-alone plain BluRay player. So I did some research and this player came up several times. After reading everything I could on it, I decided it fit the bill. It has better than average up-conversion and BluRay playback, has VieraCast for Amazon and Youtube and Netflix (if you're into that), and wouldn't break the bank. Now that I've had it for 6 months, I can say everything I read about the player is true. It performs like a champ and my movies look great. My only complaint is that the player is SLOW. Granted, my experience with BluRay is limited to this player and my PS3. But my PS3 starts up quickly, and seems to load and play my movies pretty snappily. Whereas the Panasonic takes 30 seconds just to start up when I hit the open/close button. Once it powers up and opens and takes my movie, it will be another 30-90 seconds while it loads the movie. It might just be that most BluRay players are like that. I'm only used to PS3, and before that, my DVD players (which were all machine gun fast compared to BluRay). So that's my only complaint. As far as it goes, it does annoy me, but honestly for the quality of the player and the price, I can learn to be patient with it.

JVC XVBP11 Blu-ray Player for $137.77

Cheap JVC XVBP11 Blu-ray Player Discount Review Shop

There is a significant amount of mixed press on this player but I've had good luck with JVC in the past and decided to give the XVBP11 a try. I am not disappointed. The DVD upconvert is very good, comparable with my friend's Sony player. Where this unit really stands out is the audio. Using a digital coax cable out to connect to my receiver produces sound that impressed even my wife (who is still upset I spent money on a Blu-Ray player...) I did update the firmware based on some of the reviews I'd read. This process is very easy - you just download a file from JVC's website and install it using a USB flash drive plugged in to the front of the unit. Give this unit a good look when you are shopping for Blu-Ray players.
